As a Pokémon and Trading Cards Expert at Catawiki, you will be instrumental in expanding our Japanese trading card offerings by curating high-quality auctions and aligning Japanese market trends with European collector interests. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between Japan and Europe, enhancing Catawiki's reputation as a trusted platform for Japanese trading cards.
Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating and approving submitted lots based on authenticity, condition, grading, and market demand. You will curate weekly auctions featuring major Japanese trading card games such as Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Additionally, you will identify emerging Japanese market trends, onboard and support Japanese sellers, and analyze auction performance to refine curation strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Japanese trading cards, including a strong understanding of rarity, grading, sealed products, and market dynamics. Proven experience in buying and selling trading cards both online and in person is essential. A well-established local network in Japan, including connections with card shops, dealers, wholesalers, distributors, and grading communities, is highly desirable. Fluency in both Japanese and English is required, along with proficiency in using data and digital tools to guide pricing and curation decisions.
This is a fully remote position based in Japan, offering the flexibility to work from home while collaborating daily with teams in Japan and across Europe. The role requires a proactive, organized, and independent approach, with a commitment to aligning with team goals and contributing to a diverse, international, and fast-paced environment.
Catawiki offers a competitive salary range of ¥6,000,000 to ¥7,000,000 per year, commensurate with experience and skills. Benefits include a company-provided PC, social insurance, pension plan, travel allowances, and a mental health support system. The position is a contract role with a six-month probation period, during which there are no differences in treatment.
