C++/Rust Graphics and Windowing System Software Engineer - Mir
Canonical is seeking a C++/Rust Graphics and Windowing System Software Engineer to join the Mir team. Mir is a high-performance technology stack for window managers and display subsystems, including solutions like Ubuntu Frame. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of display technologies that impact millions of developers and users worldwide.
The engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing features across the Mir stack, assisting in debugging and resolving issues, participating in code and architectural reviews, and creating tests and performance benchmarks. Additional duties include maintaining documentation to enhance the developer experience, engaging with the open-source community and commercial partners, and collaborating proactively with a distributed team.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field, along with at least two years of industry experience. Proficiency in modern C++ and Rust programming is essential, as is familiarity with Linux as a development and deployment platform. The ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse team and a willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events are also required.
