Chief Accountant
BESIX Group is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its finance team in Brussels, Belgium. As a multidisciplinary Belgian company active in construction, real estate development, and concessions, BESIX operates across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. The Chief Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing the company's financial operations and ensuring compliance with Belgian accounting standards.
The Chief Accountant will oversee all general ledger activities, lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, and deliver accurate financial statements. Responsibilities include preparing statutory accounts, managing VAT returns, supporting corporate income tax calculations, and ensuring compliance with Belgian accounting and legal requirements. Additionally, the role involves supervising accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets accounting, as well as contributing to ERP and accounting system improvements.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, with 8–12 years of professional experience in Belgium. A strong command of Belgian GAAP and VAT rules, solid understanding of Belgian corporate taxation, and experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or Odoo are essential. Fluency in French and Dutch is mandatory, along with professional proficiency in English. The ideal candidate will be accurate, structured, and detail-minded, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
