Co-op: LNP Process Development
Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2026 semester to join our cross-functional LNP formulation and process development team. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside formulation scientists, process development engineers, and chemical engineers to optimize mRNA and LNP formulations and processes related to LNP manufacturing. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with various LNP formulation techniques, analytical and biophysical characterization, and contribute to solving complex challenges in LNP process development.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with the LNP formulation and process development team, as well as cross-functional teams, to execute experiments supporting Prime Medicine's objectives. The co-op will perform analytical testing to assess LNP formulations and payload quality concerning critical process parameters. Additionally, the role involves effectively communicating results in internal and external meetings, presenting final summaries to the team, and maintaining organized documentation of experimental planning and progress in electronic lab notebooks. Adherence to all laboratory safety requirements and assisting in maintaining general laboratory functionality are also essential duties.
Candidates should be pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or Biochemistry. Prior wet lab experience with LNP formulation and testing methods is preferred, along with previous co-op experience. Knowledge of mixing techniques, tangential flow filtration, and characterization techniques such as DLS, plate-based assays, and HPLC for LNPs is advantageous. Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, the ability to work independently or collaboratively, self-motivation, attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Compensation for this role ranges from $23 to $33 per hour, determined based on factors including relevant experience, skills, and education.
