Commercial Advisor - Billing and Collection
The Commercial Advisor - Billing and Collection at Clifford Chance is a pivotal role within the firm's One Finance+ Team, dedicated to enhancing commercial performance throughout the matter lifecycle. This global team operates within a robust control environment, collaborating to deliver value to clients and colleagues across the firm. The position is based in Paris, France, and involves close collaboration with Partners, Clients, Commercial Managers, Commercial Assistants, the India Order to Cash team, Commercial Pricing Specialists, Legal Project Managers, Resource Managers, Secretaries, and Regional Practice Directors.
In this role, the Commercial Advisor serves as a trusted business partner to Partners, providing end-to-end support to improve commercial performance. Key responsibilities include analyzing and leading Partner WIP and Debt meetings, proactively managing working capital for assigned matters and Partners, and acting as the first point of contact for Partners and colleagues on commercial issues. The advisor also identifies opportunities to engage with the commercial support network, builds relationships with clients on commercial matters, provides timely feedback to the Commercial Manager, manages workflow between Commercial Assistants and the Indian O2C team, and trains Commercial Assistants to ensure high-quality output and consistent service.
Candidates should possess excellent commercial and financial acumen, with a deep understanding of the order-to-cash business cycle. Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in both French and English are essential. The role requires the ability to work with and influence a range of stakeholders across the firm, advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (particularly Excel), and familiarity with FIS GetPaid, InTapp Open, and Oracle. Experience in a global, matrix organization and a background as a trusted Business Partner are desirable. The advisor should be capable of working autonomously while being part of a wider global and local team, demonstrate a flexible and solution-focused approach, and be open to change with a proactive attitude.
