Data Engineer

In collaboration with the Technical Innovation & Engineering Department (TIED) and the ICT BESIX team, the Data Engineer will build and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest and transform data from various sources, such as third-party software, industrial IoT, and equipment providers. The role includes assisting in the onboarding and setup of the Azure Fabric platform, ensuring high availability and data quality. Applying software engineering best practices, including modular code design, comprehensive testing, and documentation, is essential. The Data Engineer will also participate in consultations with operational teams to develop and implement robust technical solutions and contribute to the group's development projects to ensure smooth integration of data systems.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science and have initial professional experience in a company setting. Proficiency in French or Dutch, with a good command of English, is required. Essential skills include analytical and problem-solving abilities, writing clean and efficient Python code, comfort with object-oriented programming and data-focused libraries, and experience managing code bases in collaborative environments using GitHub. A self-starter attitude with the ability to navigate ambiguous data challenges and take ownership of technical tasks is also important.
The position is based in Saintes, with frequent travel to BESIX headquarters in Brussels. There is the possibility of teleworking one to two days per week. The role falls under the TIED – Technical Innovation & Engineering Department, reporting to the Technical Innovation & Process Manager. The scope includes all company databases, with regular interaction with the TIED Department, ICT BESIX, and technical consultants.
