Data Engineer (Finance)
Avetta is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This role is integral to enhancing our SaaS platform, which connects leading organizations with qualified suppliers, contractors, and vendors. The Data Engineer will collaborate across Finance, Billing, Sales Operations, Business Intelligence, and Leadership teams to drive insights that influence executive decisions and optimize complex revenue analytics and planning processes.
Key responsibilities include optimizing the FP&A Cash Billings analytics and reporting function by tracing and joining invoicing and customer-activity events end-to-end using clear, testable logic. The role involves designing and building an analytically-derived "Connection Subscription Ledger," a detailed, time-aware log of monetized client–supplier connections, which will be productionized in Snowflake by the Corporate BI team. Additionally, the Data Engineer will build analytics-ready warehouse models using high-performance SQL to create curated tables and views that support cohort creation and retention, expansion and contraction analysis, renewal behavior, price lift measurement, and churn classification.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or advanced analytics roles, particularly in Snowflake or other modern cloud data warehouses. Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, incremental logic, recursive query development, and performance tuning, are essential. Experience supporting dbt-style modular SQL, testing, and documentation for at least one year is required. Proficiency in AI-based tech stack solutions, agent design, or company-specific LLM tooling is also desirable.
Avetta offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. The salary range for this position is $74,000 to $143,000 per year, with a potential bonus. Candidates residing within a commutable distance to one of our offices are expected to follow a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days work from home), while those outside of commutable distance may be considered on a remote basis.
Joining Avetta means becoming part of a company that values diversity and is committed to fostering sustainable growth for businesses and their supply chains globally. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds and experiences to apply and contribute to our mission of improving supply chain risk and compliance through cloud-based technology and human insights.
