Dedicated Cloud Support Engineer, Saudi Arabia
Canonical is seeking a Dedicated Cloud Support Engineer to provide exceptional technical support across the full cloud technology stack. This role involves leveraging Linux support and software engineering skills to assist customers in maximizing their use of Canonical's solutions, including Ubuntu Server and Desktop, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires candidates to be located there or willing to relocate.
Key responsibilities include applying expertise in Linux virtualization using Libvirt/KVM, containers, and Kubernetes, along with TCP/IP networking knowledge, to support customized customer solutions. The engineer will serve as a technical authority, demonstrating experience with open-source software such as PostgreSQL, Corosync/Pacemaker, MongoDB, MySQL, and Apache. Additionally, the role involves advising on deployed architectures, implementing solutions for complex problems, guiding customers toward successful data-center infrastructure operations, and maintaining regular communication with customer teams regarding ongoing issues.
Candidates should possess professional written and spoken English skills with excellent presentation abilities. An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university is required, along with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path. A proven track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results is essential. Hands-on experience in virtualization/cloud technologies (primarily using KVM or OpenStack), containers (especially with Docker, LXD/LXC, or Kubernetes), and storage technologies (block, object, and network) is necessary. Cloud computing expertise in provisioning, monitoring, and orchestration is also required. Professional experience with OpenStack and/or Ceph is a strong plus, as is open-source development or scripting experience. Extensive customer support experience is key, with a focus on prioritizing customer needs, professional and empathetic communication, and setting the right expectations. The ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks is also required.
