Metropolis is seeking a Director of Applied AI to lead the newly established Applied AI organization and develop an AI-first operating model from the ground up. This role involves defining strategic areas where AI can provide significant leverage across various business functions, including finance, operations, and go-to-market strategies. The Director will report to senior leadership and be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of AI Engineers and Process Analysts to realize this vision.

Key responsibilities include owning the Applied AI roadmap by identifying opportunities to enhance business processes, hiring and developing a team that fosters a culture of rapid iteration, and collaborating closely with functional leaders to design AI-driven solutions that reduce friction. The Director will also set standards for designing, evaluating, and deploying AI workflows, establish metrics for process transformations, and serve as the internal authority on applied AI capabilities and emerging best practices.

The ideal candidate will have over seven years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML, or technical product leadership, with at least two years leading teams that have deployed AI-powered systems in production. A deep, hands-on familiarity with large language models, agentic workflows, and AI automation tools such as OpenAI, LangChain, and vector databases is essential. Strong engineering skills, a proven track record of driving organizational change through technology, and excellent communication abilities to convey complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences are also required.

The actual salary offered will depend on factors such as the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education, certifications, and the location of residence or place of employment. The base salary is one component of Metropolis' total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, disability coverage, life insurance, stock options, bonus plans, and more.

Metropolis values in-person collaboration to drive innovation and strengthen culture. Corporate team members are expected to be on-site at least four days a week, fostering organic interactions that spark creativity and connection. Joining Metropolis means becoming part of a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate, within an inclusive culture where every voice is heard and the best ideas prevail.
