The Director, Commerce Activation at WPP Media will lead the development and execution of biddable retail media strategies, focusing on search and programmatic channels. This role is integral to integrating performance-driven retail media efforts into comprehensive commerce strategies, ensuring optimal results across GroupM agencies. The position is based in Chicago or New York, with a hybrid work model requiring approximately four days in the office per week.

Key responsibilities include managing a team of direct reports, identifying and implementing improvements in biddable commerce activation, and collaborating with agency and client teams to navigate the commerce activation landscape. The director will utilize GroupM Commerce capabilities to deliver solutions aligned with client objectives, proactively seek process enhancements, lead cross-channel testing and optimization strategies, and develop frameworks and training materials to elevate the performance of commerce media-buying teams. Additionally, the role involves managing relationships with priority commerce partners, delivering client presentations and thought leadership, staying informed on marketplace dynamics, and driving the adoption of GroupM Commerce for new and existing accounts.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or equivalent professional experience, along with over seven years of experience in biddable performance media execution, preferably in retail media. Experience in team management, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and a deep understanding of retail commercial elements such as profit margin, inventory levels, forecasting, and demand planning are essential. Familiarity with retail bid management platforms like Pacvue or Skai, experience in campaign management across multiple retail platforms, and strong collaboration and project management skills are also required.
