Director, Data & Analytics - Operations (Remote)
The Director of Data & Analytics - Operations at ezCater will lead the analytics function within the Operations organization, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer. This role is pivotal in ensuring the health of the company's network, identifying cost inefficiencies, assessing partner performance, and proactively addressing potential issues before they escalate. The Director will play a crucial role in translating complex operational data into actionable insights, building a scalable analytics infrastructure, and collaborating with senior operations leaders to guide ezCater's growth toward a $10 billion valuation.
Key responsibilities include serving as a strategic advisor to the COO and Operations leadership team by synthesizing data from delivery and restaurant partners, as well as customer support, to inform high-level decisions. The Director will define and execute the strategic direction for Operations analytics, prioritizing initiatives, enhancing team capabilities, and establishing structures to support scalability. Leading a team of seven analysts, the role involves fostering a culture of rigor, curiosity, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the Director will cultivate a data-driven operations culture by moving beyond averages to nuanced segmentation, promoting a test-and-learn mindset, and developing analytical infrastructure to measure initiatives effectively. Ownership of the data foundation for Operations analytics is also essential, including building reporting-ready models in Snowflake via dbt and creating unified KPI dashboards. Collaboration with Data Tech, Technology, Product, and Finance teams is necessary to align on data infrastructure, tooling investments, and performance definitions.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of progressive experience in analytics or data science, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a high-velocity operations or B2B technology environment. Experience in multi-sided marketplaces is crucial, with a deep understanding of supply, demand, and fulfillment dynamics. Proven ability to build and scale analytics functions, including hiring and managing teams across multiple workstreams, is required. Expertise in operational analytics, such as network performance, partner health, cost efficiency, and customer experience metrics, is essential. The candidate should possess exceptional analytical skills, including causal inference and A/B testing methodologies, and be proficient in SQL, Python or R, Snowflake, and dbt. Strong communication skills are necessary to translate complex technical findings into actionable recommendations for executives and cross-functional partners. A proactive approach, with the ability to move quickly from analysis to execution in a fast-paced environment, is also important. The role may require up to 5 days of travel per quarter for team gatherings and events.
The compensation for this position includes a total target cash range of $235,680 to $328,656 annually, comprising base salary and bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as prior experience, expertise, and region, and may vary from the stated range.
