Director, Product Design (Remote Eligible)
As the Director of Product Design at Smartsheet, you will lead a diverse team of Product Designers to create engaging and personalized user experiences for our web and mobile applications. This role involves applying design thinking principles to develop intuitive solutions that empower teams to manage projects, automate workflows, and build scalable solutions. You will report to the VP of Product Design and have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the United States where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
Your primary responsibilities include establishing and articulating a vision for the future of design at Smartsheet, defining user experience strategies, and setting goals and metrics to guide design decisions. You will manage the daily and strategic activities of UX designers, ensuring adherence to human-centered design processes. Additionally, you will build and scale UX processes, mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch new features and enhance existing ones based on user needs and business objectives.
The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in cross-functional roles managing strategic projects from inception to implementation, with at least 6 years leading and mentoring UX teams. Experience leading large design teams of 10 or more members is essential. A strong background in designing for enterprise SaaS platforms, proficiency in tools like Figma and Creative Cloud, and familiarity with Agile methodologies are also required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for user-centric design decisions are crucial.
