Embedded Software Engineer - Firmware
Stoke Space is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, test, and deploy firmware for multiple avionics boards integral to their fully reusable launch vehicle, Nova. This role is multidisciplinary, involving tasks from probing signals on PCBs to developing and testing new code, and integrating boards onto engines.
Key responsibilities include owning firmware for multiple avionics boards, collaborating with embedded software engineers to develop a scalable stack, working with electrical engineers to bring up boards and write firmware that meets mission requirements, debugging hardware-software interface issues, supporting teams using the firmware, and contributing to the vehicle's electrical and software architecture.
Candidates should have a BSE in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related degree, with at least 2 years of experience in developing, testing, and deploying embedded systems. Proficiency in Rust, experience with electrical lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, strong systems thinking and debugging skills, and excellent communication skills are required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with reading and writing electrical schematics (preferably in Altium), familiarity with networking concepts such as UDP, MAC layer, subnets, demonstrated ability to write embedded Rust (e.g., embassy), experience with RTOS and real-time systems, and familiarity with data acquisition systems (DAQ).
