Employment Counsel
The Knot Worldwide is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join its dynamic Legal Team. This role is based in Washington, D.C., and reports directly to the Global Employment Counsel. The Senior Employment Counsel will serve as the primary advisor on U.S. employment matters, providing legal guidance to the People team and managing employment-related issues for over 1,700 employees worldwide.
In this position, the Senior Employment Counsel will handle a broad spectrum of employment issues, including HR practices, performance management, terminations, recruiting, hiring, background checks, compensation and benefits, leaves and accommodations, wage and hour matters, and agreements related to consultants and contractors. They will also provide legal counseling on U.S. federal and state laws concerning discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Additionally, the role involves managing U.S. employment litigation and agency matters, such as those from the EEOC, DOL, state agencies, and arbitration, coordinating with outside counsel as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have over nine years of experience as a licensed attorney, with a strong background in U.S. employment law. Experience in managing employment litigation and agency matters is essential. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice. A proven track record in developing and implementing employment policies and training programs is also highly desirable.
