Engineering Manager- Ceph & Distributed Storage
Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the development of Ceph-focused software-defined storage solutions. This role involves managing a globally distributed team of engineers dedicated to simplifying the installation, management, and usage of Ceph across various environments, from large enterprise data centers to edge sites. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and managing a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to foster professional growth. Key responsibilities include setting and managing project schedules, advancing agile software development practices, maintaining a culture of quality and engineering excellence, and collaborating with other leaders within the organization. The role also involves direct technical contributions to the team's goals and ensuring sound software architecture and best practices in software quality, testing, and documentation.
Candidates should have a strong software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and C++. Experience operating scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, particularly with Ceph, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a passion for embracing new technologies, developing and growing team members, and building products that improve software and infrastructure operations. Experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers in an agile development environment is essential.
