The Engineering Manager - MLOps & Analytics at Canonical leads a distributed team focused on developing and optimizing machine learning operations and analytics solutions. This role involves managing the team's processes, ensuring productivity, and fostering professional growth among team members. Canonical, known for publishing Ubuntu, is a leader in open-source software and provides a remote-friendly work environment.

Key responsibilities include organizing and leading team processes to achieve objectives, conducting one-on-one meetings with team members, identifying and measuring team health indicators, reviewing code produced by engineers, and representing Canonical and its MLOps solutions at conferences. The manager is also expected to mentor and support the professional development of direct reports.

Required qualifications include a proven track record of professional software delivery experience, professional Python development experience (preferably with open-source contributions), a solid understanding of the machine learning space, and experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions. An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university is also desired. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events is expected.

Additional skills that may be beneficial include hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools, experience building highly automated machine learning solutions for the cloud, familiarity with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes), experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and a passion for software quality and testing. Experience working on distributed teams and a demonstrated track record of open-source contributions are also advantageous.
