Federal Technical Solutions Engineer
The Federal Technical Solutions Engineer at Arista Networks plays a pivotal role in supporting U.S. government customers, including defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies. This position is integral to Arista's Federal division, which is dedicated to modernizing and securing federal networks while ensuring compliance with government standards and cybersecurity frameworks.
In this role, the engineer provides advanced technical support to federal clients through various communication channels. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware, software, and network configuration issues across data center, campus, and routing deployments. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of escalated issues and supports product installation, operation, and optimization in line with federal security and operational standards. Additionally, the role involves documenting customer interactions, identifying recurring issues, and contributing to the development of knowledge base content and best practices tailored to the federal networking community.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, configuring, and supporting network environments is required. A strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, such as AAA/TACACS, ACL, ARP, BGP, DHCP, Ethernet, ICMP, IGMP, IPv4/IPv6, LACP, LLDP, MPLS, NAT, OSPF, PIM, QoS, RIP, SNMP, STP/RSTP/MST, VLAN, and VRF, is essential. Proficiency with troubleshooting tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, and IXIA, as well as strong Linux command-line and scripting skills (Python, shell, etc.), are also necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial, especially in high-security or compliance-driven environments. U.S. citizenship is required, with active security clearances (TS/SCI) preferred but not mandatory. Experience supporting U.S. federal customers or integrators (DoD, IC, or Civilian) and familiarity with FIPS, DISA STIGs, and other government compliance standards are advantageous. Industry certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or Arista ACE are a plus.
The new hire base pay for this role ranges from $71,000 to $137,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location to provide consistent and competitive compensation appropriate to the market. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity. Employees in sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. U.S.-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, well-being, tax savings, and income protection.
