Forward Deployed Data Scientist, AI Deployment
Braze is seeking a Forward Deployed Data Scientist to join our Field Data Scientist team, focusing on AI deployment. This role involves collaborating with customer Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to define use cases, integrate data, set up pipelines, and configure machine learning models. The position also includes extending product capabilities by improving architecture and developing reusable data pipelines, APIs, and components. Additionally, the role requires working closely with the reinforcement learning pipeline development team to refine and advance our self-learning algorithms. The Forward Deployed Data Scientist will contribute to shaping Braze's product strategy and roadmap through customer-facing insights and technical expertise, ensuring successful adoption, measurable outcomes, and long-term customer success.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, with a preference for a Master's or PhD in a relevant technical discipline. They should possess 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role working with large-scale data and production environments. Experience in customer-facing or consulting roles is strongly preferred. Technical expertise should include proficiency in Python (Pandas) and core machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, CatBoost, and XGBoost. The candidate should be skilled in SQL for querying and manipulating datasets, with experience in machine learning pipelines and model deployment. Engineering best practices, including writing well-structured, modular, documented code and following strong development practices (Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, type-hinting, code reviews), are essential. Additional skills in DevOps tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP), data integration/ETL and pipeline optimization, or reinforcement learning algorithms are advantageous. The candidate should be comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams, aligning stakeholders, and translating technical concepts into clear business value. An entrepreneurial problem-solver mindset, continuous learning attitude, and clear communication skills are also important.
