Forward-Deployed Data Scientist
Braze is seeking a Forward-Deployed Data Scientist to join our AI Deployment team. This role involves collaborating with customer Analytics and BI teams, as well as internal Braze colleagues, to implement and configure machine learning models that enhance our customer engagement platform. The position is based in San Francisco and offers an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven customer engagement solutions.
Key responsibilities include defining use cases, integrating data, setting up data pipelines, and configuring machine learning models tailored to client needs. The role also involves extending product capabilities by developing reusable data pipelines, APIs, and components, and working closely with the reinforcement learning pipeline development team to refine and advance our self-learning algorithms. Additionally, the Data Scientist will contribute to shaping BrazeAI's product strategy and roadmap through customer-facing insights and technical expertise, ensuring successful adoption and measurable outcomes for clients.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's or PhD preferred. They should have 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role working with large-scale data and production environments. Proficiency in Python (Pandas) and core machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost), as well as strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating datasets, are essential. Experience with machine learning pipelines, model deployment, and engineering best practices such as Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, type-hinting, and code reviews is required. Additional experience with DevOps tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP), data integration/ETL and pipeline optimization, or reinforcement learning algorithms is a plus.
For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $145,800 - $217,800 per year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $162,000 - $242,000 per year, including bonus or commission.
