General Counsel

Metabit Technology LLC is seeking a General Counsel to lead its Legal & Compliance Department. This role involves providing strategic legal advice to the firm's leadership, overseeing regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and managing corporate governance. The General Counsel will play a pivotal role in shaping the firm's global legal infrastructure and ensuring alignment with its innovative, research-driven culture.

Key responsibilities include advising on trading, market conduct, and securities regulation across frameworks such as MAS, SFC, SEC/CFTC/FINRA, and FCA. The role also encompasses overseeing fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic transactions. Additionally, the General Counsel will manage intellectual property protection, employment matters, and dispute resolution, while leading the Legal & Compliance team and coordinating with external counsel and compliance service providers.

The ideal candidate will possess an LL.B., J.D., or equivalent degree and be admitted to practice in Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, or England & Wales. A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience is required, including significant in-house experience within a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, investment bank, or asset manager. Deep knowledge of securities regulation, derivatives, fund formation, or financial services M&A is essential, along with demonstrated success in managing relationships with financial regulators and leading cross-border legal and compliance teams. Professional proficiency in English and Mandarin is also required.
