Grupo Quinto Andar - Staff Data Engineer
Grupo QuintoAndar, the largest real estate ecosystem in Latin America, is seeking a talented and motivated Staff Data Engineer to join our team in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining a robust, self-service, scalable, and secure data platform, along with end-to-end data pipelines that empower Data Scientists to generate insights and drive strategic decision-making.
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for constructing and maintaining high-performance data platforms that meet the company's needs, connect with product solutions, and lead analytical innovation. Your day-to-day tasks will include creating and maintaining data pipelines, considering business logic, choosing levels of aggregation, grouping and transforming fields, verifying data quality, and performing data cleaning. Additionally, you will develop data models and transformation workflows to create clear and accessible data abstractions. You will also be accountable for the entire code development lifecycle, including monitoring deployments, documentation, performance, security, incorporating metrics and alerts, and ensuring compliance with SLO budgets.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering roles, with specialization in Big Data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and MapReduce, and proficiency in multiple languages including YAML and Python. Experience with Airflow, Spark, AWS, and Databricks is essential. A strong foundation in software engineering principles, experience with data-centric systems, and knowledge of columnar storage solutions or data lakehouse concepts are required. Proficiency in Python or another major programming language, along with a passion for writing clean and maintainable code, is crucial. Strong skills in optimizing SQL query performance, building multidimensional data models (Star and/or Snowflake schema), and understanding the data lifecycle, including concepts such as lineage, governance, privacy, retention, and anonymization, are also necessary. Familiarity with infrastructure areas such as containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS), CI/CD strategies, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) is beneficial. Proficiency in English is required, as our code, documentation, tools, and materials are often structured in English. Excellent communication skills, proactive collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and experience as a tech/project lead or similar role are highly valued.
