Head of Regulatory Compliance
As Head of Regulatory Compliance at Capital on Tap, you will report directly to the Compliance Director, leading a dedicated team responsible for UK regulatory advice and compliance assurance. Your role will also involve guiding the company's adoption and governance of artificial intelligence, blending regulatory expertise with a pragmatic, risk-based approach.
Your key responsibilities will include providing timely and practical advice on FCA rules, Consumer Duty, financial promotions, safeguarding, and e-money. You will oversee regulatory horizon scanning, translating regulatory changes into actionable steps for the business. Additionally, you will lead the risk-based Risk and Compliance Monitoring Plan, conduct thematic reviews, control testing, and ensure the closure of actions. A significant aspect of your role will be to lead the integration and governance of AI within compliance, offering second-line oversight of AI usage across the organization. Furthermore, you will lead, coach, and develop your team, providing pragmatic, business-minded challenges to enhance first-line controls.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of FCA SYSC, Consumer Duty, and the EMR and PSR regimes, with practical experience applying these regulations in a commercial context. Hands-on experience in running a risk-based compliance monitoring or independent assurance program within a UK FCA-regulated firm is essential, along with the confidence to constructively challenge the business. Experience in working with AI tools and deploying AI across compliance and the wider organization is highly desirable. Proven leadership skills in developing and managing a compliance team are required, as well as the ability to present clear, evidence-based reports to senior stakeholders, governance forums, and partner banks. Experience in an FCA-regulated EMI, payments, or banking firm, particularly with exposure to fraud, safeguarding, or operational resilience, is advantageous. Engaging directly with the FCA or coordinating across jurisdictions, such as the UK and US, is also beneficial.
