As a Hoofdaankoper Deelgebied (Lead Buyer Subdivision) for the Oosterweel Project in Antwerp, you will play a pivotal role within BESIX, a leading multidisciplinary Belgian group specializing in construction, real estate development, and concessions. This position involves managing procurement activities for a specific segment of the Oosterweel Project, a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing mobility and urban living in Antwerp.
Your primary responsibilities include independently organizing purchases for your assigned subdivision, leading a small procurement team of 1 to 3 buyers and administrative staff, and overseeing procurement dossiers from strategy development and tendering to contract finalization and administrative processing. You will provide procurement advice to the project team and collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team comprising design, preparation, financial, and legal experts. Ensuring adherence to procurement planning and strategies to achieve timely and optimal acquisitions is also a key aspect of your role.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience, with at least 5 years of relevant experience as a buyer in civil construction on complex projects. Fluency in Dutch, both spoken and written, along with proficiency in English, is required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and document control systems is essential. Key competencies include customer orientation, initiative, teamwork, experience in the Belgian market and civil construction sector, excellent communication skills, and strong planning abilities.
