The Information Security Analyst at Verra Mobility is responsible for monitoring the organization's networks and systems to detect security breaches and suspicious activities. This role involves conducting regular assessments, responding to incidents by investigating and mitigating threats, and maintaining security tools and software to protect data. The analyst will also document security incidents and prepare reports to inform management about potential risks, as well as evaluate and improve existing security-related processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities include monitoring log and event outputs from various information security tools such as SIEM technology, firewalls, networks, secure web/email proxies, threat intelligence platforms, and end-user security platforms. The analyst will investigate anomalies and respond according to established standard operating procedures, perform routine but critical information security tasks including SIEM tuning, secure web proxy configuration changes, email security investigations, firewall change request reviews, and software approval assessments. Additionally, the role involves participating in and leading security incident response procedures, processing information security policy changes as determined by team leadership, researching trending threats, and providing regular reports with accompanying security tools impact analyses.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a High School Diploma/GED with appropriate on-the-job experience in information technology and/or information security. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience as an information security analyst or two years in a technical-focused IT role, such as service desk, server administration, network administration, IT compliance, or other systems support roles. The role requires the ability to handle changing priorities and multitask several projects, identify compromised systems and lead remediation efforts, and possess excellent presentation and communication skills. Candidates should be detail-oriented, work well in a team environment, have a hunger to learn, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Successful completion of the Nlets fingerprinting background assessment is also required. The position requires candidates to be located in New York or Indianapolis and willing to commute three days into the office.

Preferred qualifications include experience with using and/or managing a commercial SIEM, a working knowledge of basic information security concepts, and familiarity with common security technologies such as anti-virus, firewalls, DLP, web content filters, proxy servers, intrusion prevention systems, Windows event logging, and syslog. Candidates should also be familiar with networking fundamentals and have a basic to intermediate understanding of common network and application layer protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP, and FTP. Information Security certifications, such as CISSP, GSEC, GCED, Security+, etc., are a plus, as are other entry-level IT certifications like Network+ and Linux+.
