Lead Vehicle Controls and Interface Engineer
The Lead Vehicle Controls and Interface Engineer at May Mobility is responsible for developing and maintaining a platform-agnostic controls abstraction layer, enabling the Autonomous Driving Kit (ADK) to integrate efficiently with various vehicle platforms. This role involves designing control algorithms for core vehicle functions—body controls, brake, steer, and throttle—while ensuring rider comfort and ride quality. The engineer will also define and validate control algorithms through simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and provide technical leadership to junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to ensure seamless communication between vehicle components and autonomy software, integrating energy management considerations into control strategies, and establishing vehicle dynamics targets. The engineer will collaborate with systems engineering, system architects, and OEM platform partners to align controls interfaces across programs and support cross-functional engineering efforts.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Robotics, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in vehicle controls, embedded controls, or related automotive engineering. Experience in developing and deploying control algorithms for vehicle functions, such as brake, steer, and throttle, is essential. Proficiency in embedded software development for real-time control systems, simulation and model-based design tools, and vehicle networking and E/E architecture is required.
