As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for managing the law firm's day-to-day operations, including performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. You will also maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices, and implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow. Additionally, you will collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation, draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, and research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice. Managing client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills, as well as resolving billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney, is also part of the role. You will communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions, and manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree is preferred. At least 1 year of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal is required. Experience in Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises Liability, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred. The candidate must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a great attitude and minimal supervision. Great written and communication skills, proficiency in calendar depositions, mediation, and hearings, and applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures are essential. The candidate should be highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, have strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail, and extensive computer and database expertise, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing no less than 35 wpm.
