Legal Counsel, Center for Free Speech
The Legal Counsel for the Center for Free Speech at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a pivotal role focused on advancing free speech rights through strategic litigation. This position reports directly to the Senior Counsel, Director of the Center for Free Speech, and is integral to ADF's mission of defending fundamental freedoms. The role is available in Lansdowne, VA; Dallas, TX; and Scottsdale, AZ.
In this capacity, the Legal Counsel will lead complex free speech litigation cases, develop legal strategies, and produce high-quality legal documents such as briefs, motions, and memoranda. Responsibilities also include conducting advanced research, managing fact and expert discovery, and representing ADF's free speech initiatives in public forums. Engaging with the media regarding cases and providing legal advice on relevant laws and regulations are also key aspects of the role.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, an active license in at least one U.S. state bar, and be capable of meeting admission requirements in the relevant jurisdiction within one year. A minimum of one year of complex litigation experience is required. While specific salary ranges are not disclosed, ADF offers a competitive compensation package, including 100% covered medical and dental insurance, paid disability, long-term care, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with a 4% company match.
