Legal Counsel, Christian Ministries

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel to join the Center for Christian Ministries team in either Lansdowne, VA, or Scottsdale, AZ. This role focuses on advancing and defending the constitutionally protected rights of churches, Christian ministries, and religious schools under the First Amendment. The Legal Counsel will report to the Senior Counsel, Director of the Center for Christian Ministries, and play a pivotal role in ADF's mission to protect religious liberty.

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for evaluating and leading litigation matters with minimal oversight. Key duties include conducting research, interviewing clients and witnesses, preparing and responding to written discovery, and conducting and defending depositions. The role also involves developing legal strategies, representing clients in court and before administrative agencies, and advising allied attorneys on pertinent legal issues.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, hold an active license in at least one U.S. state bar, and be capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdictions within one year. A minimum of two years of complex litigation experience is required, with trial experience being preferred.
