Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Center for Life in Lansdowne, Virginia. This role focuses on pro-life litigation and advocacy, aiming to protect unborn babies and their mothers from the harms of abortion. The Legal Counsel will report to the Senior Counsel, Director of the Center for Life, and will be responsible for leading complex litigation and appellate advocacy with minimal oversight from senior attorneys.
Key responsibilities include leading and litigating complex lawsuits in support of unborn babies and their mothers, developing strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for case presentations, producing high-quality legal documents such as briefs, motions, and memoranda, representing and arguing on behalf of clients in court, performing advanced legal research on novel issues of law, conducting fact and expert discovery, including taking and defending depositions, interviewing and interacting with media regarding cases and issues, advising allied attorneys on legal issues within areas of competence, networking and developing relationships with current or potential allied attorneys and groups, working with the Development team on speaking engagements and other events, and ultimately saving lives.
The minimum qualifications for this position include a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, an active license in at least one U.S. state bar, and the capability to meet admission requirements in the relevant jurisdiction within one year. Candidates should have over five years of complex litigation experience.
