Legal Specialist
Visa is seeking a Legal Specialist to join its Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Legal Department. This role is integral to managing the department's budget and providing administrative support, including contract management and reviewing translations of legal documents. Visa is a global leader in payments technology, facilitating transactions across more than 200 countries and territories.
The Legal Specialist will be responsible for tracking ongoing expenditures, developing periodic reports, and alerting the team to any unusual spending trends. They will also assist with managing law firm invoices, ensuring timely receipt, review, approval, and payment, as well as resolving any billing disputes. Additional duties include conducting initial reviews and proofreading of simple agreements and other legal documents, maintaining a repository for templates and forms, and providing general administrative support such as creating presentations and managing intranet content. The role also involves procuring document notarizations and apostilles.
Candidates should have advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Outstanding English and Spanish speaking and writing skills are required, with Portuguese being a plus. Familiarity with document and records management systems and legal fee invoicing platforms is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative are crucial. The role requires multitasking and managing a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment. A bachelor's degree or equivalent, along with a minimum of four years of administrative experience working with attorneys or executives, is required. Experience in a large law firm or the legal department of a public company is a plus.
