Sr. Associate Counsel
Visa is seeking a proactive product and commercial lawyer to join as Senior Associate Counsel supporting Visa’s Global Product, IP, and Services organizations. Reporting to a Vice President in Visa Legal, this role focuses on supporting Visa Growth Products and Partnerships, particularly in the areas of stablecoin and blockchain-related products and initiatives. The position is based in San Francisco, CA, and offers an opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team of legal professionals and business clients in a dynamic environment.
The Senior Associate Counsel will provide sophisticated and creative legal counseling to product and business teams developing stablecoin and blockchain-related products. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial agreements that align with business objectives, leading the review of product-related marketing materials, public relations, and corporate communications, and managing regulatory support to assess how shifts in regulatory landscapes may impact Visa and its partners. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with Visa’s regional legal and business teams globally to resolve regional and local issues and coordinating with outside counsel as needed to ensure timely and cost-effective legal support.
Candidates should have a Juris Doctorate degree with strong academic credentials and a valid license to practice law in the state where the job is located or the ability to become state-registered in-house counsel in good standing. A minimum of five years of post-JD work experience is required, with a preference for those who have a combination of in-house and law firm experience. Prior experience advising on payments, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and financial services matters, particularly supporting global product launches and managing the legal and regulatory aspects of complex business initiatives, is highly desirable. Familiarity with U.S. federal and state payments, cryptocurrency, and privacy laws is also preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to integrate legal advice with business knowledge, work independently and collaboratively, and possess strong problem-solving skills and business acumen.

The estimated salary range for this position is $180,600 to $289,300 per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments, bonuses, and equity. Salary may vary depending on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This is a hybrid position, with expectations for days in the office to be confirmed by the hiring manager.
