Legal Technology Advisor (Forward Deployed)
The Legal Technology Advisor (Forward Deployed) at Clifford Chance is a pivotal role that bridges the gap between legal expertise and technological innovation. Embedded within designated Global Business Units (GBUs) across Europe, this position collaborates closely with deal and litigation teams to implement real-time technology solutions, ensuring seamless delivery during active matters. The advisor acts as the conduit between client needs and the firm's technological capabilities, deploying solutions that enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and drive revenue growth across various European jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities include acting as the primary point of contact for matter teams within the assigned GBU, assessing requirements, defining scopes, and recommending appropriate tools and approaches. The advisor designs and delivers technology-assisted workflows for live matters, such as document and contract review, due diligence, document automation, transaction management, litigation/eDiscovery, and collaboration tools, ensuring high-quality and compliant execution. Additionally, the role involves configuring, integrating, and optimizing existing solutions to meet specific matter requirements, documenting functional requirements and enhancement requests, and collaborating with Product Management, IT, and vendors on pilots and deployments. Supporting power users of key legal technology solutions to scale delivery capabilities across the GBU and maintaining clear documentation for solution configurations, matter playbooks, and client engagement materials are also essential aspects of the role.
The ideal candidate should possess demonstrable experience in advising on and delivering legal technology within a professional services context, preferably in legal or consulting environments. Hands-on expertise across tools such as contract analysis and review platforms, document automation, transaction management, litigation/eDiscovery, workflow, and collaboration solutions is essential. A strong familiarity with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform is advantageous. Knowledge of AI and data-driven solutions, including Generative AI, NLP, and machine learning, and their practical application to legal workflows is crucial. The candidate should have experience with Agile delivery practices and collaboration tools, such as Agile Central and JIRA, and be comfortable working with Product Management, IT, and vendors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language tailored to various stakeholders, are required. High-quality written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and commercial awareness are also important. A proactive problem-solving approach, entrepreneurial drive, and the ability to manage multiple engagements effectively are essential. Credibility, intellectual rigor, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation are key attributes for success in this role.
Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience. Clifford Chance offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package, reflecting the firm's commitment to rewarding and stimulating careers. The firm provides opportunities for continuous learning, growth, and development within a supportive and inclusive environment.
