Carvana is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join its high-performing Litigation Team at the corporate headquarters in Tempe, Arizona. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of litigation and arbitration matters, including consumer, commercial, regulatory, and securities cases. The position offers a unique opportunity to handle cases in-house while collaborating with top-tier outside counsel, leveraging technology, automation, and AI to redefine in-house litigation practices.

The Litigation Counsel will be responsible for overseeing nationwide litigation and arbitration cases from initiation to resolution. Key duties include developing strategic, cost-effective case plans that balance internal work with external counsel engagement, drafting pleadings and briefs, and providing real-time guidance to business stakeholders. The role also involves selecting and supervising outside counsel, monitoring litigation trends and regulatory developments, and offering proactive risk-mitigation recommendations to senior leadership.

Candidates must possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on litigation experience, ideally in both law firm and in-house settings, is required. Experience should encompass handling consumer, commercial, regulatory, and/or securities matters in federal and state courts, arbitration, and agency proceedings. Strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional judgment, business acumen, and the ability to manage multiple tight deadlines in a dynamic environment are essential. Familiarity with e-discovery platforms, data analytics, and legal-tech tools is also desired.
