Litigation Docket Specialist
The Litigation Docket Specialist at Crowell & Moring LLP plays a pivotal role in managing and maintaining the firm's legal docketing system. This position ensures that all critical deadlines, court dates, and case-related events are accurately recorded and communicated to attorneys and staff. The specialist collaborates closely with legal teams to review court filings, monitor rules and procedures, and update the docket database with pertinent information.
Key responsibilities include calculating and docketing litigation-related deadlines for matters pending in state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations and mediations. The specialist reviews court filings, orders, and notices to identify important dates and requirements, entering case information and deadlines into the firm's docket system. Ensuring compliance with court rules and firm policies, the role also involves generating calendar reports, assisting with court document filings, and performing electronic court filings in federal, state, and appellate courts.
The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of two years of docketing experience in a law firm environment, with strong familiarity with litigation docketing and calendaring procedures. A solid working knowledge of Illinois Civil Practice Law and Rules, as well as the Federal Rules of Civil and Appellate Procedure, is essential. Proficiency in docketing software such as eDockets, CompuLaw, or CourtAlert, along with experience in federal and state e-filing procedures, is required. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment are crucial.
