Litigation Paralegal

The Litigation Paralegal at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) plays a pivotal role within the U.S. Legal Advocacy Team, supporting attorneys in the preparation and management of litigation cases. This position is based in Lansdowne, Virginia, and reports directly to the Senior Counsel. ADF is a non-profit organization dedicated to defending religious freedom, free speech, the sanctity of life, marriage and family, and parental rights.

In this role, the Litigation Paralegal is responsible for conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and assisting attorneys with case management. Key duties include preparing templates for complaints, motions, briefs, and petitions; creating tables of contents and authorities for legal documents; organizing trial notebooks and exhibits; and managing discovery processes. The paralegal also monitors court dockets, utilizes eDiscovery platforms, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local rules.

Candidates should possess a paralegal degree or national certification, or have equivalent work experience, with a minimum of five years in litigation paralegal duties. Strong cite-checking skills and familiarity with the Bluebook are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally are crucial. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also necessary.
