Machine Learning Engineering Internship - Summer 2026

Viant Technology is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to support the development of data-driven and AI-powered solutions that enhance our programmatic advertising platform. This role offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced machine learning engineers on real-world models and systems.

As an intern, you will assist in developing, testing, and evaluating machine learning models and data pipelines. Your responsibilities will include working with large datasets to support model training, validation, and analysis, collaborating with engineering and data teams to integrate machine learning solutions into production systems, analyzing model performance, and documenting findings and recommendations. Additionally, you will learn best practices for scalable machine learning systems and experimentation.

Candidates should be currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. A strong foundation in Python and data structures is essential, along with familiarity with machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, and model evaluation. The ability to analyze data and communicate results clearly is important. Experience with SQL, Pandas, NumPy, or machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn is preferred. Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS and an interest in applied AI, advertising technology, or large-scale data systems are advantageous.

The internship offers a competitive hourly compensation ranging from $40 to $50. Final title and compensation will be based on factors including work experience and education.
