Manager, Software Engineering (Full Stack)
Viant Technology is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of full-stack engineers in developing high-performance, scalable web systems for the Viant DSP portal. This role requires a strong technical foundation in Angular for frontend development and Java or Go for backend development, along with experience in microservice and serverless architectures and database systems. The Engineering Manager will oversee the design and implementation of portal features, collaborating closely with partner engineering teams and product management to drive the portal's success.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of high-quality features based on product manager requirements, driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform performance, reliability, and scalability, and occasionally contributing to code and design efforts. The role also involves operating high-efficiency teams by implementing quality practices, ensuring speed of delivery, overseeing architecture and design, and maintaining high code quality. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will foster a culture of continuous growth and improvement through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and clear measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience, including 1-2 years managing full-stack teams, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with a Master's preferred. Required skills include 6+ years of hands-on programming experience in Java and/or Go, a track record in building large, horizontally scalable distributed systems, intimate knowledge of cloud providers and services, especially AWS and GCP, experience building large customer-facing applications, and successful experience with agile development and CI/CD processes. Ad tech industry experience is preferred.
Viant offers a competitive base compensation range of $150,000 to $200,000, with final title and compensation based on factors including work experience and education.
