Medical Records Specialist
Mendez Isaac Joudi, PLLC, a dedicated legal team serving the El Paso community, is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to enhance the efficiency of their personal injury legal team. This role is pivotal in supporting in-office medical assistants by managing essential medical records tasks, thereby allowing them to focus on client interactions and case developments. The firm specializes in personal injury, employment law, and wrongful death cases, with a mission to protect the rights of individuals facing life-altering events.
The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for preparing and managing Notices of Intent to be filed with the Court, requesting and tracking medical records from providers, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding requests. Additional duties include redacting sensitive information to maintain privacy, maintaining organized and up-to-date records for case preparation, coordinating with providers and internal teams via email and phone, and managing approximately 15–20 cases per week to facilitate the focus of in-office medical assistants on client support. The role also involves providing clear written updates on progress, completed tasks, and any blockers to support a structured workflow with daily visibility.
Candidates should have 2-3 years of experience in the personal injury legal field with a focus on medical records. Proficiency with Filevine, Microsoft Office, and email communications is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with Spanish-English bilingualism being mandatory due to frequent communication with clients and providers in Spanish. A high level of attention to detail and confidentiality when handling sensitive documents is crucial. The ideal candidate will be self-directed with reliable follow-through and capable of working independently in a remote environment. The position is full-time, aligned with El Paso (Mountain Time) business hours, typically 8:30 AM–5:30 PM MT, and reports to the Office Manager while working closely with the firm’s three in-office Medical Assistants.

The position offers a competitive monthly contractor payment structure ranging from $1,500 to $2,000, depending on experience. This contractor structure does not include firm-provided benefits or paid time off. There is potential for growth, with the ability to expand role responsibilities as the team grows and evolves.
