Stoke Space is a pioneering aerospace company dedicated to revolutionizing space transportation with its fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle, Nova. The Mission Operations Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and refining automation systems for launch operations, managing the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for Nova, and leading telemetry analysis to ensure mission success. This position is based at Stoke Space's headquarters in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

In this role, the engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and refining automation systems to support real-time mission operations and streamline launch day processes. They will own the Nova Vehicle CONOPS from launch pad evacuation through liftoff, build systems to monitor telemetry from the Nova launch vehicle, and assess real-time launch commit criteria. Additionally, the engineer will address mission-specific challenges such as downrange vehicle telemetry, hardware change implementation, and operations improvements. Collaboration with teams in Kent and Moses Lake will be essential to streamline integrated vehicle testing and launch operations. The engineer will also aggregate and synthesize engineering inputs from subject matter experts to inform critical decision-making and collaborate closely with the Vehicle Controller to advise on launch sequence adjustments and anomaly resolution. Monitoring vehicle stages through the flight phase and coordinating smooth handoff to orbital operations or recovery teams will also be key responsibilities. Driving continuous improvement of launch day CONOPS to increase operational efficiency and mission success is a critical aspect of this role.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in mission operations, launch systems, or a related aerospace field is required, with proven experience in vehicle automation, telemetry analysis, and operational command and control. Strong problem-solving skills, especially in high-stakes, real-time environments, and excellent communication skills to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams are essential. Preferred qualifications include expertise in reusable launch systems, familiarity with mission control software and systems integration, and experience in developing launch commit criteria and real-time response protocols.
