Paralegal, Compliance
Carta is seeking a Paralegal to join its Compliance team in London. As a leading provider of software solutions for private markets, Carta connects founders, investors, and limited partners globally. The Compliance team plays a crucial role in ensuring that all transactions and operations adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
In this role, the Paralegal will collaborate closely with private equity deal teams to analyze transaction structures, identify counterparties, and conduct risk assessments focusing on anti-money laundering (AML), bribery, financial crime, and reputational risks. The position involves reviewing complex entity ownership structures, including fund vehicles, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), partnerships, and trusts, to construct accurate profiles of all parties involved in transactions. Additionally, the Paralegal will coordinate with deal teams, legal, compliance, and external parties to gather necessary documentation for Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews, ensuring timely and thorough compliance checks. Collaboration with clients' legal and compliance teams is essential to ensure that transactions meet AML and counter-terrorism financing regulations, internal policies, and jurisdiction-specific requirements, proactively addressing potential issues to prevent delays in closing deals.
Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of experience in a legal or compliance role, with a solid understanding of legal administration, document review, and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for navigating complex structures and accurately documenting findings. Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to interact confidently with colleagues and external parties. The ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced compliance environment is crucial. Familiarity with private market fund structures, offshore jurisdictions (such as Cayman and Luxembourg), and KYC screening tools (like WorldCheck, Refinitiv, and RDC) is advantageous. Certifications such as ICA or ACAMS are also beneficial.
While specific compensation details are not provided, Carta offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health care plans, retirement options, and paid time off. Employees also enjoy a hybrid work environment, providing flexibility and work-life balance.
Joining Carta means becoming part of a dynamic and innovative company committed to unlocking the power of equity ownership. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about compliance and eager to contribute to the integrity and success of private market transactions.
