The Paralegal, Operations Legal at AbbVie plays a pivotal role in supporting the Operations Legal team by managing a diverse array of commercial and operational legal matters. This position involves drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering various commercial agreements, including Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements (CDAs/NDAs), real estate contracts, vendor and supplier agreements, and professional services contracts. The role is integral to ensuring that AbbVie's operations comply with legal standards and align with the company's strategic objectives.
In this capacity, the paralegal is responsible for identifying and resolving routine legal issues, utilizing their legal knowledge and experience to develop and implement effective solutions. They plan and prepare for meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all departmental files are maintained in compliance with corporate and government regulations. Additionally, the paralegal assists in process improvement initiatives and resource development to meet the evolving needs of the Legal department. Collaboration with attorneys and business stakeholders is essential, as the paralegal works to find solutions to routine legal issues and attends cross-functional team meetings.
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor's Degree and/or an ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate. A minimum of two years of experience within a law firm or legal department of a corporation is required. The position demands discretion, independent judgment, and critical thinking skills for managing and completing assignments. Advanced communication skills are necessary to effectively gather relevant information from business stakeholders and negotiate both internally and externally on routine matters. Strong writing and analytical skills are essential for reviewing, drafting, and preparing legal-related documents. The role also requires strong organizational, interpersonal, project management, and multitasking abilities to manage multiple matters, set work priorities, and meet deadlines. A foundational understanding of rules, procedures, and institutions for interpreting and enforcing laws, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry, is beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is expected, along with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
The compensation for this position ranges from $65,500 to $125,500 annually. The role is eligible to participate in AbbVie's short-term incentive programs.
