Stoke Space is seeking a Principal EMI/EMC Engineer to lead the electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) program for their reusable launch vehicle, Nova. This role involves developing and implementing EMI/EMC standards to ensure the vehicle's electronics perform reliably in extreme electromagnetic environments. As the first EMI/EMC engineer at this early-stage startup, you will have the opportunity to shape the program from the ground up.

In this hands-on position, you will establish comprehensive EMI/EMC requirements, specifications, and design guidelines for the launch vehicle and its subsystems. Your responsibilities will include performing analyses for conducted and radiated emissions, bonding and grounding, lightning effects, electrostatic discharge, and spacecraft charging. You will collaborate closely with avionics, RF, power, propulsion, structures, and software teams to integrate EMI/EMC best practices early in the design cycle. Additionally, you will develop and execute EMI/EMC test plans, lead troubleshooting efforts, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in EMI/EMC engineering within aerospace systems, such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, or aircraft. An advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field is preferred. Experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and NASA-STD-4003 documentation is essential. A strong understanding of in-atmosphere and in-space EMI/EMC, including effects of space plasma, charging, grounding, bonding, shielding, and lightning, is required. Proficiency with EMI/EMC test equipment and simulation tools, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, are also necessary.

Compensation for this role is competitive, with target levels ranging from $129,150 to $327,810 annually, depending on experience and skill level. Benefits include equity in the form of stock options, subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life and disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, four weeks of paid time off, ten holidays, paid family/parental leave, and an on-site gym or monthly wellness stipend. The Kent, Washington office is dog-friendly, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Stoke Space is committed to building a vibrant, sustainable, and equitable future through its fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle, Nova.
