Metropolis is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead our Customer Experience application development group through the next phase of growth. As an engineering leader, you will drive the future of Metropolis products, shaping the vision and technical strategy to build top-notch customer experiences. This role offers a unique opportunity to build an end-to-end mobility platform that supports high-throughput locations, aviation, fleet management, and other use cases impacting the everyday experience of millions of people.

In this position, you will provide technical direction by formulating and implementing technical vision and strategy. You will establish the technologies and best practices needed to achieve operational excellence in system reliability while enabling rapid experimentation and data-informed decisions. Additionally, you will coach and mentor engineers, drive the hiring of top talent, and foster a collaborative environment where the best product and technical ideas are nurtured and brought to life.

The ideal candidate will have over 14 years of experience building customer-centric applications and products, with a proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems in high-volume consumer-facing applications. Strong fundamental computer science skills and expert-level knowledge of Scala or Java are essential. Experience with data-intensive architectures, release engineering processes, and excellent communication skills are also required. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in a technical field, experience in high-growth environments, and leveraging AI technology to streamline engineering activities.
