Principal Software Engineer
OneTrust is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering team in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you will contribute to the design and architecture of backend systems while building and supporting scalable, cloud-native services for our platform. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and unit test scalable backend services on Microsoft Azure. You will contribute to cloud-native architecture using Core Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs, maintaining high code quality with 80%+ code coverage. Collaboration with Product Managers, Product Owners, UX, and Engineering teams is essential, as you will participate in sprint planning, grooming, and architectural discussions to ensure sprint commitments align with goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for reducing defects by identifying and fixing issues early in the development cycle, ensuring critical and high-priority incidents are resolved within SLA, and designing and supporting high-volume, large-scale systems in production.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field and possesses over 8 years of professional software development experience. Strong backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs is required, along with hands-on experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ. Proficiency with Docker and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is essential. Recent hands-on development using Java 7+ and Spring Boot, as well as ownership of production support in real-world environments, are also necessary. Experience operating systems at scale and high throughput is highly valued.
