Principal Software Engineer
As a Principal Software Engineer at Viant Technology, you will lead the design and implementation of complex backend services and frontend interfaces for our Demand Side Platform (DSP). This role involves overseeing a distributed, multi-region, cloud-based infrastructure that supports the intricate functionalities of our DSP, ensuring the system's scalability, speed, and agility. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Technical Operations teams to develop specifications and provide production support.
Your primary responsibilities include determining the long-term technical vision and scope of future projects while continuously developing and reviewing existing ones. You will lead end-to-end product development efforts for Viant DSP's suite of products, own and contribute to major features and areas, and work closely with cross-functional teams to understand pain points and identify opportunities. Additionally, you will mentor engineers in an innovative, user-focused, fast-paced environment and drive initiatives to reduce operational load and build operationally sustainable products.
The ideal candidate possesses experience in the AdTech domain or strong proficiency in the Go programming language, with over 12 years of professional experience in the software industry. Required skills include experience with web services, microservices, or other service-oriented architectures, as well as relational database experience with MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle, and complex SQL. A solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, knowledge of modern programming languages like Java and Go, and familiarity with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP are highly desirable. Hands-on experience designing, building, and delivering high-quality, scalable, and operationally sustainable software is also beneficial.
Viant offers a competitive base compensation range of $190,000 to $260,000, with final title and compensation based on factors including work experience and education.
