Professional Services Business Development Director
Smartsheet is seeking a high-impact Professional Services Business Development Director to join our Professional Services Sales team. This role is pivotal in owning the end-to-end sales cycle for Smartsheet’s Services Portfolio, positioning the company as a strategic partner to drive customer value. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Customer Outcomes and will have the flexibility to work remotely within the United States.
In this role, you will lead pursuits from early qualification through to signed Statements of Work, with or without Account Executive or Sales Engineer support. You will elevate customer and account team discussions to influence platform adoption, multi-solution expansion, and long-term value creation. Applying value-based selling frameworks, you will uncover customer priorities, link them to Smartsheet solutions, and guide the customer through to a successful close. Developing trusted relationships with executive sponsors, procurement, and key decision-makers will be essential to accelerate deal velocity and eliminate last-mile friction. Additionally, you will maintain a robust pipeline by identifying new opportunities and advancing stalled pursuits with clear next steps and mutual action plans. Utilizing tools like Salesforce and Clari, you will ensure precise pipeline hygiene, proactively course-correcting to protect the quarter while shaping future opportunities. Contributing thought leadership by mentoring peers, sharing market insights, and informing go-to-market refinements will also be part of your responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience carrying a services or solutions quota for enterprise customers, with a consistent record of closing professional services opportunities exceeding $250,000. Proven success in leading complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-solution deals and collaborating across account teams is essential. A strong command of value-based selling methodologies and the ability to articulate defensible business cases tied to outcomes and customer lifetime value are required. Experience in territory management and account planning across large enterprises is also necessary. The role requires the ability to travel up to 40–50%. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred. Experience with Smartsheet is a plus.
Smartsheet offers a competitive base salary range of $112,500 to $142,500 USD, with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, skills, and location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible for a market-competitive incentive opportunity. Benefits include employer-subsidized medical, vision, and dental coverage for full-time employees, a 401(k) match to help you save for your future, a monthly stipend to support your work and productivity, and a flexible time away program, plus sick time off. US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans. Additional perks include up to 24 weeks of parental leave, a personal paid volunteer day to support our community, opportunities for professional growth and development, and company-funded perks such as a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account. Teleworking options are available from any registered location in the U.S., depending on the role.
