Python Engineering Manager, Commercial Systems
Canonical is seeking a Python Engineering Manager to lead the development of internal products within the Commercial Systems unit. This role involves managing a team of software engineers working on Python-based solutions that are integral to Canonical's business operations. The position is fully remote, based in the EMEA region, and offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative open-source projects supporting Canonical's growth.
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the design and development of internal products, leading a team of Python software engineers, and fostering the professional growth of direct reports. Key responsibilities include improving existing processes and solutions, and understanding business needs to deliver impactful results.
Candidates should have an exceptional academic background, with an undergraduate degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative path. A proven track record of exceeding expectations and experience in software development using high-level languages such as Python, Golang, or Java are essential. Strong English communication skills and the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events are also required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in performance engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), data governance, data engineering, or data science.
