Senior Accountant

Metropolis is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records under US GAAP, supporting client reporting, and assisting with tax compliance and filings. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and posting routine journal entries, executing bank reconciliations, and completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. You will assist with maintaining the fixed asset subledger, entering vendor invoices, and determining month-end accruals. Additionally, you will prepare monthly financial statements for real estate partners in accordance with contractual agreements and support the tax team by gathering data for various tax filings.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in accounting and have at least three years of professional accounting experience. A CPA candidacy is preferred. Strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive desire to rapidly acquire accounting experience are essential. An interest in leveraging technology and AI tools to streamline accounting processes is also highly valued.

The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $105,000 annually.
