Metropolis is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join our Applied AI organization, a team dedicated to transforming the company's operations through AI-first solutions. In this role, you will design and deploy AI-powered tools and automation pipelines that replace manual, repetitive tasks across various departments, including finance, operations, and revenue. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Process Analysts to understand and enhance business functions, driving significant impact through innovative AI applications.

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and shipping AI-powered automation tools and internal applications that convert manual business processes into AI-driven workflows. Your duties will include architecting and maintaining LLM-based systems, such as prompt pipelines, agentic workflows, tool-calling integrations, and retrieval-augmented generation setups. Additionally, you will build and maintain data pipelines connecting source systems to AI workflows, ensuring data quality and reliability. Collaborating with Process Analysts, you will translate business requirements into engineering specifications and iterate based on user feedback. You will also own production reliability for the systems you develop, monitoring and refining AI outputs to maintain quality over time, and evaluate emerging AI tools to keep Metropolis at the forefront of technological advancements.

The ideal candidate will have over six years of software engineering experience, including at least two years focused on designing, building, and deploying LLM-based or AI-powered applications in production environments. Strong proficiency in Python is essential, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code and develop APIs, data pipelines, and backend services. Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and agentic patterns is required, along with familiarity with data engineering fundamentals, such as SQL and cloud data warehouses like Snowflake. Experience with workflow orchestration tools and cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, is also desirable. A strong instinct for product quality and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment are crucial for success in this role.

Metropolis offers a competitive base salary ranging from $170,000 to $200,000 annually, determined by factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. The total compensation package may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, disability coverage, life insurance, stock options, bonus plans, and more. The company values in-person collaboration and requires corporate team members to be on-site at least four days a week to foster innovation, strengthen culture, and enhance the member experience.

Joining Metropolis means becoming part of a team of world-class product leaders and engineers dedicated to building technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. The company is committed to creating an inclusive culture where every voice is heard, and the best ideas prevail. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping this culture and contributing to the organization's growth and success.
