Senior Cloud Test Engineer
MariaDB is seeking a Senior Cloud Test Engineer to join our team dedicated to integration testing of our products. This role involves developing and implementing architectural solutions for testing our cloud technologies, ensuring the reliability and performance of MariaDB applications deployed on major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Key responsibilities include conducting functional and regression testing of MariaDB server and components, performing exploratory testing, and collaborating with developers and product management to refine feature specifications. The role also involves writing and automating test cases for performance testing, regression validation, and cloud configuration verification, as well as analyzing test results, creating reproducible test cases, reporting defects, and proactively driving quality improvements. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with development, product management, and site reliability engineering teams to implement shift-left testing and quality engineering practices.
The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience in automation framework design and ownership, strong knowledge of Linux with hands-on maintenance and administration experience, and the ability to perform tasks on Windows and MacOS. Experience with MariaDB Server or other relational database management systems, public cloud configuration (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and proficiency in SQL, NoSQL concepts, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures are essential. Familiarity with version control and defect tracking systems, continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go is required. Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, as well as experience using AI-enhanced tooling for automation, failure clustering, and analytics, is also necessary. Strong written and spoken communication skills in English are important.
